Show the Drive Letters first

In Windows Explorer, the drive letters are normally shown in brackets behind the names of the drives. For better orientation you can change the drive letter to be displayed in front of the drive name.

Start the registry editor by clicking "Start" -> "Run..." and type "regedit".

regedit

Navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer". In the menu of the registry editor click "Edit", then "New" -> "DWORD value". Name the new value "ShowDriveLettersFirst". Now doubleclick it and change its value to "4".

Click "OK" and close the registry editor. Reboot your system! Now, in the windows explorer the drive letters are shown before the drive names.

There are more values for "ShowDriveLettersFirst". The default value is "0", which will display the drive name first and then the drive letter. If you change the value to "1", you will see the network drive letter in front of the local drive letter. A value of "2" will only show you the name of the drive without the drive letter.
