Turn on ClearType
ClearType is intended to make text on your screen appear much clearer and better readable. Especially users of notebooks and LCD monitors will profit from this. Here is a screenshot with both ClearType turned on in the first line of text and ClearType turned off in the second line.

To turn on ClearType, access the Display Properties in the Control Panel. After this, click on the Appearances Tab and finally click on the Effects button. You will see the following dialog screen:

Click on " Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts..." and change the entry to "ClearType". Finally click OK, then Apply and close the dialog.
