Disable the Windows XP Boot Screen
Each time Windows XP is started, the Windows logo is displayed. To decrease boot time you can disable this screen. Click "Start" -> "Run..." and type "msconfig".

After pressing the 'Enter'-key you are presented the 'System Configuration Utility' window. Change to the "Boot.ini" tab. Enable the box labeled "/NOGUIBOOT" and click "Apply". To close the dialog press the "Close" button.

Next time you start Windows XP, the boot logo is gone. Notice that this tweak will shorten the start time of Windows by only 1 second and be aware that boot time programs like CHKDSK or O&O Defrag will not be able to display their status screens. Therefore decide for yourself if you really want to disable the boot logo. To re-enable the XP boot screen just uncheck the box mentioned above.
